So you have a pretty good idea ( or maybe not ha ha ha ) and you are thinking
"why not start my own business"!!!???
Well, this is what I think...
1- Give it a try!
It sounds obvious but do you know exactly how often we let a good idea die because we think it is either stupid or that we are not qualified?
Really either your idea is innovative or not just give it a try! You might not start something from scratch, maybe you want to sell jewleries or makeup from an already established company, maybe you want to become a personal trainer, a caterer or make your own bows...whatever, just give it a try!!!!
2-BUT Be adaptable.
Be open to adapt the idea if the first, second, third or fourth concept you came up with doesn't work.
The idea does not have to be fancy to be a success and just because it doesn't take off as you thought does not mean its not worth it.
A fun lesson I learned as a mom/housewife:
Have you ever tried to tear open a bag of ketchup and you pulled and pulled and nothing happened and then you finally find that right corner or angle and voila?!!!
Or tried to move a heavy piece of furniture and you pushed and pushed and it's not budging and then you position yourself differently and that heavy furniture suddenly "glide"! Okay, maybe not gliiiide but you know what I mean!
So life has many such scenarios and as you start that business venture you will have many many many situations that seem impossible or frustrating until you reposition yourself...
3-Be resilient!
If you've birthed kids I know there is already some resilience in you! ( grin)
So tap into that maternal force and when things get challenging hang in there and keep on pushing.
Some of the challenges to expect in the beginning, and I am sure in the long haul...
Getting enough support, getting enough capital, having to teach yourself things that are totally new, learning to ask for help, READING on things you never read before just to keep yourself sharp...
If your idea take off fast and furious with great success well guuuurlll congratulation I am happy for you!
If it doesn't, well oh well, no big deal because it is not a reason to be defeated.
There are a lot of trials and errors as long as you do not quit too fast and keep on keeping on. You might actually make something out of that initial business idea or the new one that came as your learned from your mistakes.
Keep in mind that if the first idea does not work as planned it might just show you a different way to do things and birth a new idea or direct you into a niche.
4. START WHERE YOU ARE USE WHAT YOU GOT & DO WHAT YOU CAN
Now this one alone is a mouthful isn't it?!
Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT DESPISE the small beginning! Yes that's The WORD!
Rome wasn't built in a day like my mom used to tell me when I was younger and even Oprah wasn't OOOOOPPPPPRAH overnight and she would not hesitate to remind you of that!
If you need a reminder in just how SMALL a beginning many GREAT people had, read some biographies please!
I love reading biographies because they keep it real on the trials they all faced and how important it is to be resilient, persistent, courageous and determined.
If you have an idea to start a daycare start first with babysitting a few kids and see first if you can really balance the demands of watching other people's kids and taking care of your own home, your kids, yourself and your hubby!
If you test yourself and learn that you are pretty good at it then increase the number of kids, advertise, get your home licensed etc. If you realize that a tutoring or after school program would work best for you then be flexible to make the necessary changes.
By the way, I did this before having my 4th child.
I always loved to be industrious in some form or fashion so during my early years as a wife as offered babysitting services to some single moms.
I learned that I did not like waking up too early just to start watching some extra kids. I love to be up early and spend time alone. I also learned that I preferred seasonal babysitting to year round and that I had preference for a certain age bracket.
I am glad I learned this about myself early on before I started committing time and money to running a licensed daycare. I learned about myself that quality for me was more important than a lot of extra money.
I love a certain order to my life, my home and my family. Now I run a business that started from creating healthy skincare products for kids and new moms and I loooove it!
Okay my little anecdote summarizes it all! (smiles)
NOW how it applies to my current business...
When I decided to start selling vegan beauty products I had little capital, I have 4 kids that I homeschool and I kept feeling discouraged that I could only start part time, I can't attend a bunch of social events because my kids are mainly my priority, I am living in a city where I do not have a big network not even a real support system and of course I knew nothing about running a (small) business.
So I started with a few friends and words of mouth, I used facebook , my most regular customers are actually in other states and other countries so I am international before I even became local ha ha!
I decided to make my business official even though some people told me it was a waste of money and time to get involved with the legal part with taxes and all. But I did not want to feel like I was having another hobby so getting a name ( I used my very unique first name), a logo, and proper documentations were important to me.
I have not reached the "take off" part because I still feel like I am still in my baby stages but it is okay with me. I am not trying to be an overnight success I just want to be very faithful with all I have while I am still pushing on moving forward the best I can. I do not want to go so fast and furious that I overwhelm myself and lose the pleasure for what I do.
I love paying attention to details, I am very glad that I can produce small batches and put my heart not just into making the product but also into packaging beautifully each order I receive.
So why am I blogging about it while I have not yet been featured in Success Magazine nor been on Shark Tank? Why not blog about it? After all maybe one day you will see my name in a magazine or hear it on TV and be like...."where do I know her from"?!
Well, that's me!!!
By the way, my name is N'nako pronounced Nako!
I just published my first kids book, an awesome book on the importance of healthy eating and I even have lots of photos and some recipes for you adults to enjoy! My characters are bilingual because I speak French!

By the way this blog post was inspired by the fact that I am currently working on my website. I was wondering how come I am now finally working on one and it lead me to think about all that I just shared with you guys!
I was under the weather for a week and since it forced me "to do nothing" I figured I would start working on a website. I almost cried the second day I worked on it because of how tedious it is. I spent all day working on it yesterday and I am feeling more confident.
I decided to use wix and it is starting to look cute actually so check it out while I am still working on it and if you see something you want to order now just email me or write me on facebook.
I would be so happy to serve you but make sure to tell me that you came across this article so that I can offer you a discount!
So, go start that business, let me know what you are up to because I want to be one of your cheerleader!!!!
Yours truly,
